Installation and Troubleshooting

What you need:

Ranch Vision normally comes on high density, 1.44MB, 3-1/2" disks. If you do not have a 3-1/2" disk drive, you can contact Advanced Veterinary Service Technical Support to request disks in your format.

You will need to have at least 2MB of available RAM and 5MB of available Hard Drive space in order to install and run Ranch Vision effectively.

Ranch Vision runs on Windows 3.1, 3.11 and Windows 95. If you can efficiently run any of these environments, Ranch Vision should run just fine.

How to Install Ranch Vision:

Place your Setup disk, disk 1, into the appropriately sized disk drive. In Windows 3.1 or 3.11, click on the File menu and choose Run... (in Windows 95, Click the Start button and choose Run...) When the Run dialog box appears, type A:\SETUP in the available input area (If your disk is in drive b:, then type B:\SETUP). Now click OK.

At this point, the Ranch Vision installation should load and run. If it does not load, check to make sure the disk drive light, located of your disk drive, is on. If it is not, check to see if you typed the correct information in the 'Run...' dialog input-box.

Remember, you must specify the correct disk drive letter followed by a colon ( : ), not a semi-colon ( ; ). This is a common mistake that many people miss.

If everything is okay with the information you typed in, and your disk drive light is on, make sure your disk drive door is closed (if your disk drive has a door).

Finally, if what you typed is correct, the disk drive light is on, the disk is in the correct drive, the drive door is shut and the Setup program still will not run, you may have a bad installation disk. Please call Advanced Veterinary Services Technical Support Line to find out how you can obtain a new setup disk.

Once the Setup program is running

Now that the Setup program is running, simply follow the instructions presented to you. Normally, you should use the default values for any questions. This will be a great help to our Technical Support staff should you need there assistance. If you do not choose to use the default values, Ranch Vision will still operate just fine. Using the default values will give you and our Technical Support staff a common place to work from.

How to run Ranch Vision

Once the Setup program is finished, you will have a Ranch folder in your Program Manager on Windows 3.1 or a Ranch menu in Windows 95. Just double-click the Ranch icon, (or choose 'Ranch Vision' from the Start menu) to run the Ranch Vision program. If you have Windows 95 or if you have Microsoft's Video for Windows installed in Windows 3.1, a short opening video will be displayed as Ranch Vision is loading. To stop the video prematurely, just click in the video window. If you don't want the video to play every time you load Ranch Vision, delete or move ranch.avi from the Ranch directory on your hard drive. If you don't have Video for Windows or if you remove the video, our About box will be displayed instead.
